Shallipopi Reportedly Split With Music Distribution Label, Dapper Music
Shallipopi’s actions appear to validate rumours of a breakup with the label, whose relationship propelled him to popularity in 2023, when he recorded a string of successful singles.
Shallipopi launched Plutomania Records earlier this year, with Zerry DL and Tega Boi serving as the label’s cornerstone acts.
The hitmaker’s divorce from Dapper Music comes only a week after releasing his latest single, ‘Order’ featuring Olamide, in conjunction with Plutomania Records and Dapper Music & Entertainment.
While both sides have yet to confirm the story, Shallipopi’s actions are comparable to Seyi Vibez’s recent newsworthy divorce from Dapper Music.
Shallipopi’s association with Dapper Music has been lucrative thus far, with the Benin-born rapper rising to superstardom following the release of his hit-filled debut EP ‘Planet Pluto’ and debut LP ‘Presido La Pluto’ in 2023.
His sophomore album, ‘Shakespopi’, was also published by Dapper Music and featured the chart-topping single ‘ASAP’.
Shallipopi’s departure will be a significant blow to Dapper Music, which has become a driving force in the growth of Nigerian street music, with CEO Damilola Akinwunmi named TurnTable Chart’s Executive of the Year for 2023.
TurnTable Charts just issued a research on the companies with the most market share in Nigeria from Q1 to Q3 2024.
