The academic vacancies cover disciplines such as Agriculture, Arts, Communication and Media Studies, Computing, Education, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Law, Life Sciences, Management Sciences, Medicine, Nursing Sciences, Optometry, Pharmacy, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Vocational and Technical Education and other fields.

Depending on the department, academic positions include:

Research vacancies are also available in areas connected to centres such as the Petroleum and Energy Systems Research Centre, African Centre for Management and Leadership, and Centre for Federalism and Democratic Studies.

UNIBEN Teaching Jobs 2026 Requirements

The academic requirements depend on the level of the position.

For teaching positions, UNIBEN generally requires a first degree with at least Second-Class Upper Division, or a Second-Class Lower Division degree backed by a PhD, subject to the specific requirements of the advertised position.

Senior academic positions require stronger academic and professional records.

For example, applicants for Senior Lecturer are required to have a PhD, at least five years of teaching experience and a minimum of eight peer-reviewed publications.

For Lecturer I and Lecturer II, the university has stated requirements around a PhD or Master’s degree, teaching experience and peer-reviewed publications, depending on the position.

An Assistant Lecturer position requires a Master’s degree, with the applicant expected to be pursuing a PhD, together with evidence of teaching and research potential or experience.

For Graduate Assistant, applicants must have a first degree with at least Second-Class Upper Division. Candidates with First-Class degrees are encouraged to apply.

Because requirements differ by department, candidates should check the specific vacancy before applying rather than relying only on the general academic requirements.

UNIBEN Non-Teaching Jobs 2026

The recruitment also covers a wide range of non-teaching positions across the university.

The reports must be received not later than one week after the application deadline.

The subject of the referee’s report should contain the applicant’s name and the position being applied for.

At least one of the referees must be from the applicant’s current or most recent place of employment.

Applicants should therefore contact their referees early instead of waiting until the recruitment closes.

These include relevant academic and professional certificates, NYSC certificate, birth certificate or age declaration, and evidence of state and local government of origin.
