Zulum appoints Borno NUJ chair as media
Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has named Dauda Iliya as his new spokesperson and Special Adviser on Media. This decision was announced in a statement on Friday by Abdulrahman Ahmed Bundi, the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on New Media.
Iliya’s appointment comes after the passing of Mallam Isa Gusau, who held the spokesperson role until his death in February 2024.
Currently serving as the Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists in Borno State, Iliya is originally from the Kwaya-Kusar Local Government Area in southern Borno. He earned his bachelor’s degree in English Linguistics from the University of Maiduguri and completed his master’s in Mass Communications there in 2024. He has participated in various professional training programs.
Iliya is affiliated with several organizations, including the Nigerian Union of Journalists and the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters. Prior to this new role, he worked as a reporter for federal radio stations covering the Borno region.
