Lebara Nigeria Begins Nationwide Operations With New SIM and eSIM Services
Lebara Nigeria has officially commenced nationwide commercial operations, giving consumers another option for mobile voice, SMS and data services.
The telecom operator went live on September 14, 2026, with physical SIM cards, eSIM activation and digital self-onboarding available to customers.
Lebara is entering Nigeria’s telecom market as a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO). Instead of building its own nationwide mobile network, it provides telecom services through existing network infrastructure.
The Nigerian operation is being managed by VAS2Nets Telecommunications Limited, which operates the Lebara brand in the country and holds the relevant regulatory approvals.
Customers can register from home
One of Lebara Nigeria’s main features is its digital onboarding process.
Customers can complete their Know Your Customer (KYC) registration remotely through the My LebaraNG app, allowing them to register without visiting a physical store.
Those who prefer face-to-face assistance can obtain support at authorized retail locations, including participating Slot stores.
Lebara said it had more than 1,000 registered retail agents in its distribution network at launch.
Customers can also order physical SIM cards through the company’s website, while users with compatible devices can choose an eSIM instead.
Lebara launches 0724 number series
The new operator has introduced the 0724 number series for its Nigerian subscribers.
The company had previously carried out a soft launch in Lagos in February 2026 as it prepared for nationwide operations.
Alongside local mobile services, Lebara is offering international calling, with the company stating that subscribers can make calls to more than 230 countries and territories.
New digital services for subscribers
Lebara’s Nigerian offering goes beyond traditional voice, SMS and data services.
The company has introduced Sabi Cloud, a cloud-storage service that allows users to store, back up and share files, photos and videos.
It also offers a Buy Now, Pay Later option for selected smartphones, allowing eligible customers to make an initial payment and spread the remaining cost over an agreed period.
Subscribers can also access LebaraPlay, the company’s entertainment platform.
The operator says its mobile bundles are designed for different usage needs and budgets, with tools that allow customers to monitor their data consumption.
Lebara adds another competitor to Nigeria’s telecom market
Lebara’s nationwide launch adds another operator to a market dominated by established providers such as MTN Nigeria, Airtel Nigeria, Globacom and 9mobile.
Its entry also expands Nigeria’s growing MVNO segment, which allows telecom companies to provide services without operating their own nationwide radio access networks.
The model enables Lebara to focus on customer services, digital products, pricing and distribution while using existing telecom infrastructure to provide connectivity.
For Nigerians, the launch means another option for mobile connectivity, SIM registration and digital telecom services.
Customers interested in becoming Lebara distributors or retail agents can also register through the company’s official website.
