Kano gov receives US institute’s excellence award
Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, has received a distinguished Fellowship from the United States Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership. This recognition was announced in a press release on Saturday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa. In addition to the fellowship, the Institute also awarded Governor Yusuf an Award of Excellence, acknowledging his substantial contributions to human capital development and effective resource management.
The honors were presented by members of the Institute’s Governing Council, with Dr. Steven Longe leading the delegation, during a formal investiture ceremony at the Abuja Governor’s Lodge. This event marks another significant recognition for Governor Yusuf, coming shortly after he received a National Award from the Nigerian Union of Teachers during the celebration of World Teachers’ Day.
Dr. Longe elaborated on the reasons behind the Institute’s decision to bestow these honors upon Governor Yusuf, noting that extensive research into his management practices revealed his competence in handling both human and financial resources. The findings underscored his commitment to fostering good governance in Kano, which is Nigeria’s most populous state. Dr. Longe remarked, “Your leadership has been characterized by prudence and transparency. You exemplify the traits of an accountable and dedicated leader. We take pride in associating with politicians who are genuinely committed to serving their communities selflessly.”
In his response, Governor Yusuf expressed his heartfelt gratitude for being honored with the fellowship and acknowledged the recognition of his leadership on an international scale. He emphasized that, despite the numerous challenges his administration has faced since taking office, the commitment to serving the people of Kano remains a top priority.
“Even in the face of adversity, our dedication to the welfare of the people of Kano has never wavered. We will persist in delivering the dividends of democracy to our citizens,” the governor assured attendees.
Governor Yusuf’s achievements reflect his administration’s focus on promoting development and accountability, which are essential for effective governance. The recognition from the United States Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership not only highlights his accomplishments but also serves as an encouragement for continued good governance practices within the state.
As he continues to lead Kano, Governor Yusuf’s focus on human capital development and resource management is expected to yield positive outcomes for the state, further enhancing the quality of life for its residents. The honors he has received are a testament to his leadership style and commitment to public service, motivating him to strive for greater achievements in his tenure.
