‘No talent’, Wizkid takes another swipe at Davido in fiery exchange
Afrobeats star Ayodeji Balogun, known as Wizkid, has reignited his ongoing feud with fellow musician David Adeleke, better known as Davido, leading to a new exchange of insults on social media.
This latest confrontation comes just months after their previous clash on X (formerly Twitter), where Wizkid had mocked both Davido and Mavin Records’ Don Jazzy in May. During that incident, he referred to Don Jazzy as merely an “influencer” and shared a video of Davido kneeling and pleading for new music.
The drama flared up again on Tuesday when Davido teased a snippet of his upcoming 2024 single. Coincidentally, Wizkid was also set to release his first track from the much-anticipated “Morayo” album on the same day.
Things heated up when Davido’s associate, Kayode Yajaur, known as Black Tycoone, took a shot at Wizkid, seemingly mocking the delay of his album. He tweeted, “Tell your Daddy to drop an album already.”
Wizkid, undeterred, retaliated with a veiled jab at Davido’s team, posting on X, “P***y boys dropping mid again,” and added, “Una don tire! Make una go rest small!” While he didn’t mention Davido by name, fans quickly interpreted the comment as aimed at the ‘Fem’ hitmaker.
In defense of Davido, a fan accused Wizkid of seeking attention by dragging Davido into his online feud. “So if you no beef @davido, your song won’t sell?” the user tweeted.
Wizkid swiftly responded, claiming, “I don’t beef wack niggas! We all know he’s wack! No talent!” He continued with his tirade, dismissing Davido’s entire catalog as “trash” and boasting about his own musical capabilities. “80 trash! We got 80 albums for any song y’all drop! P***y boys!” he declared.
Despite Wizkid’s barrage of insults, Davido has chosen to remain silent. Speculation suggests that the renewed tension may have stemmed from Davido’s recent performance at Tony Elumelu’s UBA anniversary in the U.S., where he entertained guests and posed for photos with the billionaire. Wizkid, a UBA brand ambassador, was noticeably absent from the event.
The back-and-forth has sparked various reactions on social media, with fans and fellow celebrities chiming in. Some criticized Wizkid for reigniting the rivalry, while others are curious whether Davido will eventually respond.
One user, @Rswagger03, speculated that Wizkid’s provocations were simply a promotional strategy for his upcoming album. “Just beg us to promote your songs… beefing with elemi9+ won’t help your dead career or better still… ask Tems for help again,” he tweeted.
Another fan, @Amaruskills, downplayed Wizkid’s remarks, suggesting he was merely trying to stay relevant. “Lol, fame don dey fade, he don start to dey talk small small make dem no forget am,” read the tweet.
