Davido Interview Spark Reaction From Different Personalities
Convivial Afrobeats star David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has recently made headlines, but not for his music.
The American-born Nigerian superstar featured on The Big Homies House podcast, where he discussed his ideas on those who may desire to return to Africa from America.
The ‘Awuke’ singer discouraged fans, claiming that Nigeria’s economy is currently in disarray and things aren’t going smoothly.
“Leave America and go where? Let’s be honest. Return to where? It’s not cool at home. My country’s economy is in tatters. I do my part; I am an ambassador.”
“When I go home and film, I’m not going to broadcast the terrible bits. I go to the trenches, but I’m talking about the overall situation of the country. ”
“We Nigerians, for example, have a messed-up exchange rate, a lot of things aren’t working smoothly, and the economy is generally bad.”
“The oil prices are too expensive, and consider a country that produces oil: we produce the oil and pay more for it than a country that imports it” he said.
This statement clearly irritated a number of prominent personalities, including Reno Omokri, Patrick Doyle, Joe Igbokwe, and TVC anchor Nyma Akashat-Zibiri, who aired their anger on social media and elsewhere.
Patrick Doyle, the renowned actor resorted to his Facebook page to post this: “You have to be extremely dense to encourage tourists not to visit a country where your father has a $2 billion power generation stake. “Some people should know much better.”
