Edo police command gets new CP

On Saturday, the Edo State Police Command announced the appointment of Umoru Ozigi as the new Commissioner of Police for the state.

In a statement released by spokesperson Moses Yamu, the command highlighted that CP Ozigi is attuned to the security issues facing the citizens of Edo State and is actively seeking the community’s partnership to tackle crime effectively.

The statement noted, “The Edo State Police Command is pleased to inform the public that CP Umoru Ozigi has taken on his new role as Commissioner of Police.”

Hailing from Adavi Local Government Area in Kogi State, CP Ozigi holds a degree in Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police after completing his training at the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano.

With three decades of service, he has held various positions within the Force, bringing a wealth of experience to his new role.

“CP Ozigi has extensive knowledge in investigations, operations, and administration. He is known for his discipline, impartiality, and dedication, which he aims to leverage to enhance the safety and security of all residents in the state. He acknowledges the security challenges faced by the people of Edo State and is eager to collaborate with the public to fight against all forms of crime.”
